Survey and calculate statistics until your heart is content with the “TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award” winning survey software, StatPac. StatPac is a powerful piece of survey and statistics software that can create original surveys and analyze results.
In addition to creating surveys that can be distributed online, through interviews, paper questionnaires and email, StatPac can perform dozens of statistical calculations on your raw data, including frequency tables, t–tests, chi–square tests and distribution analyses.
Although StatPac is an impressive piece of survey software, it was more difficult to use and understand than the #1 product, Survey Crafter. StatPac provides many tools to learn how to use the software including easy–to–understand instructions and an introduction tutorial; however, the program is designed for research surveys, not casual marketing surveys.
StatPac is a versatile and powerful piece of survey software. Surveys can be distributed online, through interviews and on paper. StatPac surveys can also be emailed; however, emailed surveys cannot include skip branching.
StatPac is designed for statistical analysis and doesn’t allow for as much creative freedom as some of our other reviewed products. You can create custom questions and answers associated with your survey. There are four common question types to choose from including multiple choice, rating, question matrix and short answers; however, many question types can be modified to suit your needs.
Visually, StatPac can perform some simple design functions like changing font, images and color. However, these functions are very basic. Surveys can be designed to require questions, restrict access through passwords and curb ballot box stuffing.
StatPac’s shining feature is its statistical analysis. It can produce basic analysis reports like frequency and cross tabulation tables and correlation matrices. Additionally, StatPac includes a statistical calculator that can calculate t, f and chi–square distribution; chi–square, Fisher’s exact and binomial tests; one and two sample t–test, matched pairs t–tests or compare three or more means. It also includes a random number creator and more.
All surveys and analysis reports can be exported to an ASCII file and surveys and data saved in an ASCII or Word file can be imported to StatPac.
Unfortunately, StatPac is designed for those familiar with conducting surveys and calculating stats. The novice may find this program frustrating to learn. Its design and interface targets those accustom to numbers and have heavy backgrounds in research.
We were pleased to find that although StatPac is difficult to use, its help section and user’s guide is comprehensive and made the process of learning the software easy. Online, StatPac includes an introduction tutorial that will walk you though many of its features and functions. Additionally, they include telephone and email support, and a small FAQ section on their website.
StatPac will provide 90 days free technical support after you purchase the software. At an additional cost, you can buy a yearly maintenance and support subscription. If you do not have a website to post your survey, StatPac will host your survey for an additional cost.
StatPac is a powerful and useful survey and statistics program. We found StatPac might be more useful to those in intense research and development fields using surveys and statistics regularly and not casual marketing surveys; however, it can be used for any type of survey.
