Design your survey the way you want it to look. Personally customize every aspect of your online survey with the “TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award” winning survey software, Opinio. Questions can be custom written or chosen from a library of common questions. There are seven question types to choose from and you have complete control of your survey’s look and feel.
Opinio also provides several analysis tools. It can generate frequency tables, cross tabulations and correlation matrices. This is a web–based application and will run on any operating system, including Mac.
Although Opinio gives the surveyor a lot of creative control, it is only intended for Internet surveys, unlike our higher ranked programs, which work in several mediums. It is also the most expensive survey program we reviewed.
Opinio is designed only for online surveys. Surveys cannot be administered as paper handouts, through manual interviews or email. However, you can send email invitations including a link to your survey’s website.
Opinio gives you complete creative control. You can add images, fonts, colors, backgrounds and more. You can also change your welcome messages, thank you messages, and “Next” buttons. All buttons can be replaced with images or original text.
Additionally, you can adjust required answers, set skip patterns, password restrictions, restrict people from taking the survey more than once, save incomplete surveys and set start and stop dates.
Opinio includes many common questions like multiple choice, matrix and ratings. They also have drop–down lists, open–ended and essay options.
Opinio includes two types of reports, summary and comment. Summary reports are analysis reports including frequency tables, cross–tabs and correlation matrices based on percentages and means. Comment reports are the answers to essay and open–ended questions that cannot be calculated quantitively.
Unfortunately, Opinio only does basic statistical analysis and its analysis tools are not as sophisticated as the higher rated programs. Opinio will not calculate standard deviation, median or mode, and pie and bar charts are your only graphing options.
Reports can be exported to a text file. Surveys, questions and respondents can be imported or exported using XML.
We found Opinio’s survey software to be self–explanatory and easy to use. All options are clearly labeled and located at the top of the page. The interface is multilingual and supports English, German, Spanish, French and more. Opinio also offers web hosting if you do not have a website to post your surveys. However, prices vary depending on your needs.
Opinio is compatible on all major web servers including Apache and Internet Information Server (IIS). Additionally, it supports databases Oricle, MySql, SQL Server, DB2 and PostgreSQL.
We found Opinio’s support section helpful and effective. The program includes a user manual, telephone and email support. They also have a small FAQ section and user forums. Our emails were answered within an hour.
Opinio’s greatest feature is the creative control it gives the surveyors. You can design your surveys or polls specifically how you would like them to look. Additionally, it is easy to use and not intimidating to novice users. Although Opinio is not the most expensive on the survey software on the market, it is the most expensive product we reviewed under our price cap.
