FormArtist is specifically for Internet surveys using a WYSIWYG interface, which gives you ultimate design control. Pictures, graphics and questions can be constructed and placed anywhere on the page. You can change colors, backgrounds, fonts and more. FormArtist also performs several statistical calculations.

Administration Options:  

FormArtist can only be used to create and administer surveys online. It cannot be used in traditional formats like on paper or in interviews.

Survey Creation:  

Creation is FormArtist’s strongest asset. It gives you complete control over look and design. Pictures, graphics, text, color and more can be modified to fit your specific needs.

FormArtist has an unusual selection of question options, but many are just different names for common question types and you can modify them to typical survey questions. For example, “tick box group” is really a multiple choice question.

FormArtist can also require answers, set skip patterns or require passwords. It cannot however, curb ballot box stuffing or save incomplete surveys.

For an additional $99, you can buy the emoticons extension pack that includes interactive images like smiling/frowning faces and thumbs up/down symbols.

Survey Analysis:  

Although analysis is not FormArtist’s strongest feature, it provides many statistical calculations and analysis tools. It can create several types of graphs like bar, pie and line. Additionally, it will calculate mean, median, mode, standard deviation and cross tabulations. FormArtist will not create banner tabulations or correlation matrices.

In the standard edition, results and forms can be exported to Excel and CSV; however, additional data exports to HTML, ODBC, SPSS or Snap is not available.

Ease of Use:  

It does take a moment to become accustom to FormArtist’s interface; however, they provide a step–by–step tutorial that will take you through many of its basic functions. The endless possibilities regarding design makes FormsArtist fun to use and easy to learn. FromArtist does have a free version of the software available to download, the free version does not include any statistical analysis; however, it is a great way to get used to using the design features.

Help/Support:  

FormArtist supplies a complete user manual with a getting started tutorial, FAQ and email support. They do require a licensing key that comes with the download or with the product box. FormArtist is only compatible with Windows XP or later.

Summary:  

FormArtist is a great survey program for fun and creative Internet surveys. All forms are aesthetically pleasing, and design control is left to the surveyor. Unfortunately, FormArtist surveys can only be used online.
